Vala L. Metz

Vala L. Metz is an attorney at Quane Jones McColl, PLLC who focuses her practice on the defense of medical practitioners statewide. She has experience defending care provided by a wide range of facilities as well as individual providers, and including long term care facilities, specialty surgical hospitals, physicians, nurse practitioners, physicians’ assistants, nurses, physical therapists, dentists, among others. In addition, Vala has represented clients in a diverse array of construction defect, employment, business, and personal injury matters.

Vala spent her early years in Sandpoint, Idaho- in the mountains by winter, and lakeside by summer. Vala obtained degrees in history and law from the University of Idaho, working with the Idaho Conservation League, and the Office of the United States Attorney in externship.

After law school, Vala moved to Southeast Alaska to serve a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Trevor N. Stephens, of the Alaska First Judicial District in Ketchikan, Alaska. While in Alaska, Vala encountered diverse criminal, civil, and administrative matters, and caught several fish worthy of a proverbial fish story.

At the end of her clerkship term, Vala relocated to the Treasure Valley where she entered into private practice with a boutique medical malpractice defense firm in Eagle, Idaho. Since joining Quane Jones McColl, PLLC, she is proud to continue in the firm’s tradition of providing high-quality representation to members of this state’s great medical community.

Vala serves as legal advisor to the Board of the Friendship Clinic, a free and all-volunteer medical clinic, and has previously held an elected leadership position with the Young Lawyers section of the Idaho State Bar Association. Outside of practice and professional associations, Vala spends the balance of her free time with her husband, son, and their friends and family taking in live music, traveling, and getting outdoors.
